The Saudi Press Agency has reported that Abdullah Alswaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, highlighted the Kingdom’s commitment to fostering an innovative and sustainable economy rooted in artificial intelligence (AI) and innovation. His remarks, delivered at the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos, acknowledged the support of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in driving these transformative efforts.
During a panel discussion titled “Economic Transformations in the Kingdom,” Alswaha described the ongoing economic shifts as a unique opportunity to advance international cooperation and build a sustainable future centred on AI to benefit humanity. He stressed that realistic optimism, combined with a strong focus on fundamentals, is key to succeeding in the AI era.
Alswaha noted Saudi Arabia’s progress in establishing advanced digital infrastructure, which has attracted over $10.6 billion in cloud computing investments from global giants like Amazon, Microsoft, and Google. Under Vision 2030, significant strides have also been made in developing digital talent, with women’s participation in the technology sector surging from 7% to 35%. The total workforce in technology has doubled, now standing at 381,000 professionals.
These achievements underscore the Kingdom’s ambition to lead in AI-driven innovation on the global stage.
