Google’s AI chatbot, Gemini, has come under scrutiny as users report instances of nonsensical replies.

According to posts on Reddit, users have encountered responses filled with jumbled code, characters from various languages, and repetitive words. One user shared a screenshot where Gemini responded with an unintelligible chunk of text, while another noted a bizarre answer to a Roman numeral query. In another case, the AI responded with “Not Cauchy, Cauchy, Cauchy” when asked about satellite TV channels, referencing a mathematical concept instead.

Despite these issues, a quick refresh or rephrasing the question often resolves the problem. Reports of these gibberish responses have surfaced on both the web and Android versions of the chatbot. Google’s Head of Search, Liz Reid, explained that such errors likely stem from the AI’s difficulty in filtering out nonsensical and satirical queries, leading to an “information gap.” The company is working on implementing a limiter to reduce the inclusion of humour and satire in responses.
