Saudi Arabia Introduces Accreditation for AI Service Providers

The Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) has unveiled a new accreditation system for artificial intelligence (AI) service providers operating within the Kingdom. The initiative seeks to advance the maturity of AI practices, ensuring higher quality and reliability of AI applications available to citizens, residents, and visitors.
This move aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, spearheaded by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who serves as Prime Minister and Chairman of SDAIA’s Board of Directors. Under his leadership, the Kingdom is pursuing its ambition to become a global hub for advanced technologies and artificial intelligence.
Service providers will be assessed through the National Data Governance platform, which evaluates AI products and services at various maturity levels. Those demonstrating excellence can earn accreditation certificates, alongside incentive tags that categorise them as conscious, adoptive, committed, reliable, or pioneer, depending on their adherence to ethical AI practices. These certifications are valid for one year and aim to encourage the responsible and reliable use of AI technologies.
The platform also incentivises entities to adopt mature AI practices, helping to standardise ethical principles and reduce risks in AI deployment. By establishing robust policies, standards, and controls, SDAIA is working to regulate and advance the Kingdom’s AI and data sectors.
The accreditation scheme forms part of SDAIA’s broader strategy to position Saudi Arabia as a leader in the responsible use of AI. Through these efforts, the authority aims to enhance innovation, strengthen trust in AI technologies, and drive progress in line with national development goals.
Applications for the accreditation certificate can be submitted via the National Data Governance platform.
