Dubai has unveiled an ambitious initiative to train 5,000 Emirati students in advanced technologies over the next five years, a move spearheaded by the UAE’s Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications Office in collaboration with the Emirati Human Resources Development Council (EHRDC).

The program, launched under the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Higher Committee for Future Technology and Digital Economy, reflects Dubai’s commitment to fostering a digitally skilled workforce capable of driving innovation and sustainability in the global economy.

Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, emphasized the government’s focus on empowering Emirati talent. “Investing in national capabilities and equipping them with future-ready skills ensures their critical role in shaping the UAE’s digital transformation,” he said. Al Olama highlighted the importance of nurturing innovation to secure a more dynamic and inclusive digital future.

Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, Chairman of the EHRDC, noted that the initiative underscores the UAE’s dedication to bridging academia and industry. “Our partnerships reflect a commitment to equipping Emirati youth with the tools and expertise to lead in the technology sector, aligning with Dubai’s vision for sustainable economic growth and global competitiveness,” he stated.

As part of the initiative, the AI Office and the EHRDC signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen ties with leading technology companies. Additional MoUs with LinkedIn, SAS, and prominent universities such as the University of Dubai, Zayed University, and the Higher Colleges of Technology will support the program’s goals through mentorship, hands-on training, and professional development opportunities.

Targeting third- and fourth-year university students, the initiative offers tailored training programs to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry requirements. Students will gain practical experience and access to mentorship from global industry leaders.

The launch ceremony, attended by government officials, business leaders, and students, highlighted the strategic importance of this initiative in advancing the UAE’s vision for a knowledge-based economy. By fostering homegrown talent, Dubai is solidifying its position as a global hub for technological innovation and digital excellence.
