A new AI-integrated waste management platform has been launched in Abu Dhabi, marking a significant shift in how waste is tracked and processed across the region.

The initiative, a collaboration between Tadweer Group and FAMS Technologies, aims to improve efficiency and sustainability by embedding AI and the Internet of Things (IoT) at every stage of waste management. The platform is designed to optimise operations, cut environmental impact, and enhance the waste disposal process.

Khalid Al Faheem, a senior spokesperson for Tadweer Group, described the move as a turning point for the industry. “Harnessing AI and IoT to modernise waste management is a game-changer. This platform not only improves operational efficiency but reinforces our sustainability commitment, aligning with Abu Dhabi’s vision for a greener future. Our partnership with FAMS Technologies reflects our drive to collaborate with like-minded entities to pioneer smart solutions that benefit both the environment and the community,” he said.

The system employs AI-driven analytics to predict waste generation patterns, optimising collection routes and vehicle deployment. This is expected to reduce carbon emissions, lower costs, and ensure compliance with environmental regulations. Real-time navigation tools will support drivers, while supervisors can monitor operations remotely, allowing for greater transparency and adaptability.

Beyond collection, the platform will track waste as it moves through landfills and recycling facilities, providing data on landfill diversion rates and recycling efficiency. Decision-makers will be able to use these insights to refine strategies and reduce the overall environmental footprint.

Tadweer Group’s partnership with FAMS Technologies underscores Abu Dhabi’s efforts to lead in waste management innovation. The initiative is expected to set new standards for the sector, reinforcing the UAE’s ambitions for a more sustainable future.
