Governata, Saudi Arabia’s first enterprise Data Management Platform, has officially launched, offering AI-driven solutions to enhance data governance and decision-making across public and private sectors. The company has unveiled its inaugural product—enterprise data governance software built entirely in Arabic—to help local organisations comply with national regulations while leveraging machine learning and Generative AI for strategic value.
Designed with regional needs in mind, Governata is currently the only Saudi-built Arabic solution that aligns fully with the frameworks set by the National Data Management Office (NDMO), National Data Index (NDI), and the Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) under the Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA). The platform allows organisations to monitor compliance, classify and protect sensitive data, and build strong data foundations in preparation for effective AI implementation.
Supporting Vision 2030, Governata plays a strategic role in Saudi Arabia’s transformation into a data-driven economy. By automating data governance tasks, enhancing data quality, and giving entities complete control, it turns regulatory compliance into a competitive advantage. Its universal tech-first model also allows for wide adoption and scalability across sectors.
Governata is led by co-founders Djamel Mohand, Jehad Senan, and Khalid Almudayfir—each bringing years of industry experience. Djamel Mohand, a seasoned entrepreneur known for scaling tech firms like Foodics, said: “Data is the foundation of the present and future digital economy, and our goal is to help Saudi and global organisations manage it more efficiently and responsibly so they can take more accurate, swift and relevant decisions.”
The platform’s key features include an intuitive Arabic interface aligned with NDMO guidelines, automated compliance tracking, personal data protection, centralised data catalogues, and advanced tools for data quality, lineage, and access management. These tools are designed to accelerate data readiness and ensure full regulatory alignment.
Jehad Senan, an expert in data governance with two decades of experience, added: “Governata serves as the gateway for organisations to unlock the full potential of Generative AI. Our unique strengths lie in being able to connect to a firm’s data sources, interpret technical metadata, enrich it with business metadata, and classify it completely in line with NDMO standards – all while ensuring a rigorous quality control process and understanding personal data seamlessly.”
Governata can be deployed on-premises or via SaaS and is currently working with top advisory firms and systems integrators across the region. Beyond its software, the company offers consulting and training to support full compliance with national data regulations and ensure digital success aligned with Vision 2030.
