EcoOnline Expands into Middle East, Driving Safety and Sustainability Transformation

EcoOnline Expands into Middle East, Driving Safety and Sustainability Transformation
  • PublishedMay 13, 2025

EcoOnline, a leading global provider of safety and sustainability solutions, has announced its expansion into the Middle East, reinforcing its commitment to supporting the region’s industrial and regulatory transformation. The company has appointed seasoned safety and compliance professional Nicholas Matta as Regional Director, Middle East, to lead this next phase of regional growth, enabling organisations to achieve their health, safety and sustainability goals.

Nicholas brings extensive experience across the Middle East in Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG). With a background spanning project delivery and commercial leadership, he offers a comprehensive perspective on how organisations manage risk, compliance and operational change. Formerly in a leadership role at Enablon, he is well-regarded for building strong, culturally aligned partnerships across the region. At EcoOnline, he will oversee partner engagement, customer adoption and go-to-market success in the Middle East, while also managing business development activities in the Benelux region.

Nicholas commented: “I am proud to be part of EcoOnline’s journey in the fast-growing Middle East region. There is a clear opportunity to close market gaps in areas such as lone worker protection and chemical safety — challenges too often overlooked despite the serious risks involved. EcoOnline is uniquely positioned to address these needs with intuitive, people-centred solutions that deliver lasting impact at every level of an organisation.”

Meeting Regional Demand for Safety and Sustainability Solutions

With national initiatives such as Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, the forthcoming World Expo 2035, and landmark projects like The Line (part of the US$500 billion NEOM development), the Middle East is undergoing significant industrial and economic transformation. Since the launch of Vision 2030 in 2016, Saudi Arabia has experienced a 60% increase in industrial facilities, with the IMF forecasting cumulative economic growth of 6.7% over the next two years.

As infrastructure and energy projects gather pace and nationalisation programmes such as Saudisation expand the local workforce, the demand for safe, sustainable and compliant operational practices is increasing. Core sectors including construction, manufacturing and energy face rising pressure to align with international standards — not only in sustainability reporting, but also in frontline risk management and operational resilience.

“The Middle East is at a critical inflection point, with ambitious national agendas driving industrial growth and employment,” stated Gareth Palmer, SVP Channel & Alliances.
“We see a clear opportunity — and responsibility — to help companies build a safer, more sustainable world of work. By combining local expertise with a global partner ecosystem, we can support organisations navigating this transformation — not just through technology, but through long-term, trust-based collaboration.”

Supporting Partners and Customers in the Region

EcoOnline is already establishing a presence in the Middle East through partnerships with global collaborators including DSS+, VPWhite and WSP. This regional expansion builds upon EcoOnline’s strong foundation in Europe, North America, ANZ and South Africa, reflecting its ongoing commitment to supporting high-impact industries with intuitive solutions that simplify operational complexity and improve safety culture, regulatory compliance and environmental performance.
