Bahrain’s labour fund Tamkeen has partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to launch a national programme focused on upskilling Bahrainis in artificial intelligence (AI). This initiative, unveiled at the Gateway Gulf Investment Forum, provides training for three key AI qualifications: generative AI, implementing machine learning in operations, and using technology to address business challenges.

The Gateway Gulf forum, themed “Investing in a Rapidly Transforming Region,” gathered high-level government officials, industry leaders, and executives to discuss transformative investment opportunities.

Tamkeen CEO Maha Abdulhameed Mofeez highlighted the fund’s commitment to enhancing Bahrainis’ competitiveness through training in cutting-edge fields like AI. This programme, she stated, will prepare Bahraini nationals to become AI generalists, specialists, and startup founders, strengthening Bahrain’s reputation as an innovation hub.

In line with Tamkeen’s 2024 strategic goals, this collaboration supports economic growth by expanding employment and development opportunities within the private sector. Mofeez added that, alongside AWS expertise, the programme will emphasize practical applications in cloud computing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to empower Bahrain’s workforce and boost productivity through advanced tech adoption.
