ADNOC, AIQ Trial Groundbreaking ENERGYai Solution
  • PublishedJanuary 17, 2025

ADNOC and AIQ have announced the successful completion of a 90-day proof-of-concept trial for ENERGYai, an innovative artificial intelligence (AI) solution designed specifically for the energy industry.

ENERGYai integrates a 70-billion-parameter large language model (LLM) with ADNOC’s extensive 50-year knowledge base and proprietary data. The trial showcased ENERGYai’s potential to enhance efficiency and accuracy across operations, particularly in upstream exploration and production.

The AI employs “agentic” capabilities—specialised AI agents trained for distinct tasks within the energy value chain. During the trial, ENERGYai demonstrated a 70% improvement in seismic interpretation accuracy, advanced reservoir monitoring, and anomaly detection. Its ability to deliver actionable insights in natural language enabled ADNOC engineers to interact with the system seamlessly.

Musabbeh Al Kaabi, ADNOC’s Upstream CEO, stated: “This trial has confirmed ENERGYai’s potential to drive value creation and sustainable energy production. By leveraging petabytes of data, we aim to future-proof ADNOC and position it as the most AI-enabled energy company globally.”

The trial also improved operational data quality by detecting errors, standardising formats, and enriching datasets, enhancing the reliability of data inputs.

Magzhan Kenesbai, Acting Managing Director of AIQ, added: “This milestone reflects the collaborative efforts of ADNOC experts, over 100 specialists, and robust AI infrastructure. It paves the way for even greater achievements in the next phases.”

The first operational version of ENERGYai is expected in the first half of 2025, featuring five AI agents to be deployed across upstream assets. Plans are in place to scale the solution to thousands of additional wells, marking a significant step forward in ADNOC’s digital transformation journey.
