Cloud Computing Leads Growth in KSA Commercial Registrations

Commercial registrations for cloud computing services in Saudi Arabia surged by 70% in 2024, according to a report from the Ministry of Commerce. By the end of the fourth quarter, registrations in this sector reached 3,005, up from 1,759 in the same period of 2023.
Riyadh led the way with 1,900 registrations, followed by Makkah with 575, the Eastern Province with 329, Madinah with 72, and Asir with 37.
The ministry highlighted cloud computing as one of the Kingdom’s most promising economic activities. Other sectors also recorded significant growth. Application development registrations rose by 36% to 15,800, compared to 11,600 in 2023. Riyadh again topped the list with 9,700 registrations, followed by Makkah (3,200), the Eastern Province (1,600), Madinah (467), and Asir (249).
Meanwhile, the FinTech sector grew by 12%, with 3,152 registrations compared to 2,795 in 2023. Riyadh led with 1,900 registrations, followed by Makkah (636), the Eastern Province (309), Madinah (86), and Qassim (44).
The total number of commercial registrations in Saudi Arabia now exceeds 1.6 million, with women owning 30% and young people accounting for 38% of these businesses.
