Flashnet expands smart lighting across Saudi Arabia

In collaboration with Saudi Delta Group, Flashnet has been tasked with revolutionising Jeddah’s street lighting system through the installation of 5,700 inteliLIGHT® smart controllers. These include NEMA controllers for precise individual lamp management and FRCM controllers for efficient cabinet-level segment control. This combination enables granular control while streamlining installations and reducing deployment time, setting a new benchmark for urban lighting efficiency.
The project harnesses the power of LoRaWAN, a long-range communication technology, to deliver real-time data and remote management capabilities. LoRaWAN’s ability to cover large areas with minimal infrastructure is particularly suited to Jeddah’s sprawling urban landscape. It provides a cost-effective, low-power solution for smart city applications, ensuring reliable operations over long distances.
A key feature of the initiative is the integration of solar-powered UPS systems, which maintain uninterrupted operation of the LoRaWAN network and gateways, even during power outages. This guarantees 24/7 street lighting functionality, reinforcing public safety and operational reliability.
Flashnet’s inteliLIGHT® platform empowers the municipality to monitor, control, and diagnose streetlights in real time, optimising energy use and cutting costs. Its flexible design integrates seamlessly with existing infrastructure while allowing for future scalability.
“As we illuminate Jeddah, we’re doing more than just powering streetlights — we’re igniting possibilities,” said Alexandru Buzatu, Chief Commercial Officer at Flashnet. “This project is a step toward building smarter cities and stronger communities, where technology and innovation shape a brighter future.”
