Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), led a delegation to Microsoft’s headquarters in Los Angeles, USA, to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) can enhance workforce productivity and smart infrastructure development.
Accompanying Al Tayer were senior executives including Hussain Lootah, Executive Vice President of Transmission Power, Marwan bin Haider, Executive Vice President of Innovation and the Future, Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence, Loh Lim Huat, Chief Advisor of Generation, Ghanem Al Qassim, Senior Manager of Solar Energy, and Humaid Al Hammadi, Senior Manager of Special Projects.
During the visit, Al Tayer held discussions with Microsoft executives Rajmohan Rajagopalan, General Manager of M365 Copilot and Apps, and Ricardo Villalobos, Principal Director of Industry Software Engineering. The discussions focused on utilising Microsoft’s AI solutions to empower DEWA’s workforce while exploring AI-powered smart building solutions, supporting DEWA’s commitment to digital innovation and sustainable infrastructure.
Earlier in the year, DEWA equipped its employees with Microsoft 365 Copilot and Microsoft Security Copilot, becoming the first UAE government entity to adopt these advanced technologies. This move is part of DEWA’s strategy to enhance productivity, efficiency, and quality through the integration of innovative technologies. DEWA is also one of the first utilities worldwide to adopt Microsoft’s Copilot solutions.
The Microsoft team demonstrated the capabilities of Microsoft 365 Copilot, an AI tool designed to enhance workforce efficiency by automating tasks and improving daily operations. Discussions also explored AI-driven smart building technologies aimed at optimising energy consumption and fostering sustainable development. These initiatives align with DEWA’s long-term vision of advancing sustainability, innovation, and smart city development in Dubai.
Al Tayer reiterated DEWA’s dedication to leveraging advanced technologies to achieve operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and environmental sustainability.
