Apple Slashes Vision Pro Production

Apple has significantly reduced production of its Vision Pro headset since early summer, per sources involved in its manufacturing. According to a report by The Information, the company may cease production of the current mixed reality model by year-end.
The initial excitement following the headset’s February launch has dwindled, largely due to its high price and increased competition from lower-cost alternatives like Meta’s Quest. While Apple’s Vision Pro is priced at around $3,500 in the U.S., Meta’s Quest 3 costs approximately $500. Suppliers have produced components for only 500,000 to 600,000 Vision Pro units. One supplier revealed that their factory stopped production in May.
Furthermore, Apple recently informed assembler Luxshare that manufacturing might halt in November, as reported by an employee. Earlier this year, Apple launched Vision Pro in international markets to boost demand, especially as the company integrates artificial intelligence into its core mobile devices to stay competitive.
