  • PublishedSeptember 27, 2024

Anthropic has launched its latest AI model, Claude 3.5 Sonnet, claiming it outperforms competitors like OpenAI’s GPT-4o and Google’s Gemini across numerous tasks. Available now to Claude users on the web, iOS, and for developers, this model aims to set a new standard in AI capabilities.

Claude 3.5 Sonnet, positioned as a mid-tier model, reportedly surpasses even the high-end 3 Opus model in performance and speed. The company’s benchmarks indicate significant improvements, with Claude 3.5 Sonnet excelling in writing, translating code, handling multi-step workflows, and interpreting charts and graphs. It also shows advancements in understanding humour and producing human-like writing.

In addition to the new model, Anthropic is introducing “Artifacts,” a feature allowing users to interact with the AI’s outputs directly within the app, enhancing the usability and functionality of the AI tool.

Anthropic’s strategy focuses on business applications, aiming to turn Claude into a comprehensive tool for centralising knowledge and documents in a secure, shared space. This approach suggests a vision more akin to tools like Notion or Slack, with AI at the core.
